Winestate 2011 Wine of the Year Awards

Patrick of Coonawarra continued its Riesling roll at the Wine of the Year awards; the Patrick of Coonawarra Estate Wrattonbully Riesling 2010 finished runner up in the Riesling category behind a Pokolbin Estate Riesling from the Hunter Valley. The Patrick of Coonawarra Aged Wrattonbully Riesling 2006 finished in fourth spot, with two Clare Valley Rieslings rounding out the top five.

"Judges tasted more than 1000 Rieslings for this category, so to have two finishing in the top four is another magnificent result – particularly given that Wrattonbully is more well known for its red varieties than whites," said Matt. "It is a fantastic example of what can be achieved in an Australian cool climate, and we’re excited not only for ourselves but for the entire Limestone Coast region."

Overall, judges described Patrick of Coonawarra as "an absolute consistent performer". The company’s wines will now form part of an international road show as part of the Wine of the Year Awards, which will include promotions and tastings in Auckland, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Hong Kong.
